I am the first to let you know that I am not a huge scrapbooker. I use the papers and supplies in altered art, cards, paper crafts etc. I took some fun photos at CHA and thought I would use some of the cool papers from The Robins Nest to show them off!

I love black and white! I printed my photos of me with some fun friends and also wonderful and creative folks at CHA. I had 5 photos and matted them on solid black card stock from WorldWin. I also cut a 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 black and silver square and put in the center of the white and black paper with flourishes. I attached all the photos where I wanted them then the fun began!

Next I added some additional flourishes with a Dreamweaver Stencil. I used Black Matte paste and then added Crystal Glitter over it for more sparkle.

The flowers were covered with Perfect Paper Adhesive (PPA) from USArtQuest the dusted with Crystal Glitter. I added the Dew Drops in Black in all the centers of the flowers and added more glitter!

In the swirls of the stencil flourishes I added a white Dew Drop!

Dreamweaver Thursday - February Challenge GO GREEN

These are the lovely stencils up for grabs this month! Good luck!

This was done using the grid stencil, the rolling hills stencil and the spring stencil. First I used pigment ink and a stencil brush to apply color to the stencil. I then used sticky powder from stampee foils and heat set. I then used the heat lamenator to apply the stampee foil. Next I traced the grid stencil. I carfully colored in the lines with a permanent marker. I finally placed the spring stencil over the top and used green glossy paste to show off the image! I edged the image with gold pen and then layered on dark green paper and edged that and finally layered on a light green card stock. At the last moment I used a fun charm to add that special touch!

Thrills and Prills with USArtquest!

I am having the best time using USArtquest products! They are so very versatile and the wonderful pops of color are in all the paint, gilding, mica and more! I love color and this company stimulates that love! I am scheduling this post ahead of time as I will have just gotten back from CHA and may be loopy or just dead to the world! : )

I am going to share with you the business cards I made to hand out at CHA. As a designer you never know when you will need to have a card to impress. If I have time I will make some more but for now...here we go!

Perfect Pigments (Secondary Colors)*
PPA (Perfect Paper Adhesive)*
Duo Adhesive*
Gilding*
Mica Powder*
MINI PRILLS (NEW ITEM)*
Various Ink
Diamond Glaze
Various Stamps
*USArtquest Products

I started by printing off my information on white card stock. I wanted to add color to them so I used large stipple brush and Ink to add a variety of color to the information strips.

Tap the stipple brush in the ink.

Apply color to paper.

This is the pile I had done after adding color.

I wanted to add a bit more interest to the name portion so I used Perfect Medium and stamped over the words. I then used a very soft brush to apply Interference Gold Mica Powder to the ink. It left a very subtle shine/glimmer to the cards. I then set these aside.

Apply ink.

I have loaded more than necessary on the brush. There is no waste as the excess can be brushed back in to the jar.

Spread around and brush off excess.

I next started on the tags. I put a small amount of Perfect Pigment on the paper and added PPA. This made the paint a bit thinner and more transparent. I covered both sides lightly and let dry.

Just a note, when setting the tags aside to dry, make sure they don't stick to each other. Yes, that was a note to self! Now a really fun part, GILDING!

Add Duo Adhesive to your Cut and Dry Foam and then apply to the stamp of your choice.

Stamp the image and let dry completely.

Apply gilding on the image and cover completely. Brush off all the excess with a stiff brush to reveal.....

The wonderful stamped design. Looks great on any color background.

I then tore around the edges of the card information and attached to the non-gilded side of the tag. I used Perfect Medium again to stamp the pear image in a few places on the printed side and use various Mica Powders.

I wanted to add a final touch and I just received the perfect accent, PRILLS! Mini Prills are and interesting accent for all your paper crafting projects and more. They are 100% natural, heat resistant, acid-free and non-toxic! They come in over 40 colors! I used Diamond Glaze to adhere mine.

Adhesive is applied to the slight edge.

Prills are then poured over the adhesive.

Excess is poured off and placed back in the cool little jar.

And these are the finished tag/business cards!

I hope you have enjoyed these fun tags. I had a lot of fun making them And just so you know, I just ordered MORE Mini Prills. They are just so cool.

Other thoughts:

Add them to Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel

Any place you would use Micro Beads

Mixed into paint for texture

Applies on top of Embossing Paste/101 Studio Paste

Mix with your Diamond Glaze/Crystal Lacquer

I am still working on more ideas!

Dreamweaver Thrusday...Going GREEN

Welcome to the first post for the 2nd challenge by Dreamweaver Stencils! This month is St. Patrick's day or GREEN! I am already getting ready to send a few Easter cards since all the Valentine's Day cards are done. I am super excited to post this card as it is done with the new stencil LJ918 Open Cross. It is also a very Clean and Simple card so bonus there!

I love this card! First, I love the cross design. Second, I used supplies from all three companies for whom I now design. Third, I think of the great sacrifice that was made for me and for you as well! So let me tell you how this card was created.

1. I cut Black Suede paper from US Artquest to size. (The same size as the stencil.)

2. I used White Glossy Paste to emboss the Cross stencil. (Set aside to dry.)

3. Once dry I used Color Solutions alcohol ink fro Dreamweaver to color the cross. I used the applicator from Ranger with the felt pad. I used 3 different greens to get the pretty color blend. (Thank you again Wendy Jordan for the cool photo!)

4. I then layered the design on card stock from WorldWin with the base card being made from card stock from The Robin's Nest.
5. The final touch was to add the rose with a little glitter added to the center of the cross.

How cool is this stencil! I used Glossy White Paste on Black Suede paper from US Artquest. After the paste dried I used the cool Color Solutions from Dreamweaver! It is the best alcohol ink I have used. It is richer in pigment and gives you more work time. I then layered on WorldWin card stock with the base of the card from The Robin's Nest. What fun! Again, visit all the blogs from The Dream Team!

Sneak Peek for Dreamweaver Stencils

OK, I shared a partial image on the 19th of a new design from Dreamweaver Stencils.

This was done by inking the stencil then running it through my embossing machine. I added some sticky powder from Stampee Crafts (available from Dreamweaver Stencils). I then used the holographic foil with the heat laminater. Layer on several layers of card stock from Worldwin and there you have it! Tune in tomorrow for....

Chattering Robins 3D Box

Well this is my second installment as Design Team Member for The Robin's Nest. I wanted to do something other than a scrapbook or card so this is what I came up. This project will be on display at CHA in The Robin's Nest booth #1656. Hope you come by to check it out along with my first project!

Let's get started. I start with a blank box by McGuffey Woodworking. I really like these boxes because the back comes off so you can design on a flat surface.

Next I decide which way I want to use the box. For this project I turned it so the three small openings are in the upper right hand corner. Then I use a pencil to trace all the grid marks. This allows me to have a guide. You can go a little over the lines and they are covered by the dividers! No curling paper or pieces coming up! Now I find all the papers I want to use and cut them to size.

Then I glue them in place. I place the grid over the top just to make sure I have cut everything correctly.

I like how it looks so I remove the grid and start to decorate the sections. I start with some stickers and great rub-ons. They work really well and get a wonderful image. Afterwards I add a touch of glitter.

Next I went to the trusty Tear Drops and made some very colorful and dimensional flowers.

I just continued to add embellishments until all panels are filled. I will go through them so you can see what I did in each one.

I used a Peacock Feather stencil from Dreamweaver with Blue Glossy Paste. On the next on is a paper flower. I added glitter on the feather and the flower.

Rub-ons were used for the words and the dragonflies. I added glitter to the vines of the paper and to the dragonfly wings. I used Diamond Glaze from Judikins to do this. In the 3 small boxes I used Glossy accents and diamond shape Tear Drops to make the designs. I added a round Tear Drop in the centers.

I loved this western theme paper and had a couple of stickers I used to give it a layered look.

The top portion is the flowers I made and the horses are from Dreamweaver. I embossed them with Black Glossy Paste. I sprinkled a little bit of glitter over the horses and added some black Dew Drops just for fun. The black paste holds them in place. Otherwise I used Glossy Accents as my adhesive.

Again, I had some epoxy stickers in my stash and used them. The leaves are some outline stickers in copper.

The top is a sticker and made it look attached with Dew Drops. I did add Diamond Glaze over the sticker for dimension. The leaf is just applied and I added some random "bling" just for fun.

More bling, a flower, a rub-on & Tear Drop for the grouping of three. For the panel with the stag, I cut out the tree sticker then used the stag stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils in Copper Embossing Paste. Dreamweaver booth at CHA is #863.

US Artquest Altered Tray

Hi and welcome to my second installment for US Artquest! I love all the cool products that US Artquest has to offer and allows creativity to just flow. My project today has a lot of steps but many are repeated. So let's get started!

These are the products I have on hand from US Artquest.
I will be using the Perfect Pigments, Mica Tiles, Mica Flakes, brushes and PPA!

This is the tray I started with. It is made by McGuffey Woodworking. These trays are by far the best I have worked with for several reasons. They are made in the USA, made from solid wood and you can take the back off to make it easier to decorate/paint. I will be using the other design for my Chattering Robin's post on Monday!

1. I took a pencil and marked off the sections. This makes it easy to see where the dividers will be so you can, in this case, paint just over the lines and there will be no bleed over.

You can see the grid marks and I charted which Perfect Pigment color I wanted where.

2. Paint each section with color desired and then paint the same color on the tray dividers.

3. Continue to paint until you have the entire board painted. I confess, I goofed a little and marked the colors I was going to use with INK...UGH..so had to paint a coupe of coats. Fortunately what I am adding will cover any trace of pen marks.

4. I got out my trusty Dreamweaver Stencils and decided which designs I would use for background. I then used the Perfect Pigment to tint the White Glossy Paste. This way I had lighter shades of the same colors.

Mix and apply to stencil.

NOTE: Due to dry time I started in opposite corners with the stencils and allowed them to dry then moved on.

5. I got out my Mica Tiles and split them into thinner sections so I could sandwich mica powder/mica flakes/PPA/Perfect Pigments between the layers.

6. At this point you press them together and moosh them around. Yes, MOOSH! It blends the colors and anything you have mixed in. This also makes the tiles stencil ready.

7. For this project I now attached the back to the frame.

8. I now choose other elements I want to add to each square. I use a paper flower, wire and wonderful crystal beads from Connie Crystal. This is how each section turned out!

Countdown to CHA!!! Dreamweaver Thursday

Well excitement is building as CHA is approaching! Look for little sneak peeks and some reveals of new designs on my blog and the Dreamweaver Design Team starting Jan 21st! My first post will be for US Artquest but have used several of the new designs! Check back often! So here is my first TEASER!

So stay tuned for the rest of this card Sunday the 22nd! But for now, let's get this weeks design posted! I am going to do one more Valentine to go along with our challenge this month. You can still play along with a chance to win blog candy from Dreamweaver. Make your project, link it to Dream It Up and see if you win!

This is a card that I did in response to a challenge issued by our fearless leader Lynell Harlow. Lynell assigned each member of the Design Team a stencil to use and be creative I got the lovely Lace Doily LJ836 stencil. I used the Double Glitter technique. If you follow this link you will see Lynell demonstrating this GREAT technique. Once the glitter is done I places the Heart/Key Stencil LG672 over the center and taped it down. I then used Glossy Black Embossing Paste on the heart part of the stencil only. Set it aside to dry. I then layered on DoubleMates card stock from Worldwin Papers.

The stencil has a key hole in it so I just used an embellishment from Advantus Corp to cover the key hole. I then used a matching key with fibers to finish the look! Dreamweaver Thursday

Welcome to the second post of the year for Dreamweaver! I hope some of you are playing along this month is the Valentine's Day Challenge! Just follow the link for all the details.

The rest of this month will be free posts for us but I am going to do another Valentine's Day card! Hope you like it!

So many products to choose from and so little time! These are some of the base supplies I use when working on projects for Dreamweaver!

One thing that I love about stencils it the ability to make stand alone projects or stencil on decorative paper. Niki Sivil's Scrapbooker has some really fun designs. I am using the Sugar Cookie stack for these two cards today...YES TWO CARDS!!! The first is going to used the large corner flourish and....wait for it....GLITTER!!

I found the paper I wanted to use and then taped the Large Flourish stencil down with removable tape. The base card is made from great card stock from WorldWin. I then applied Translucent Embossing paste and spread evenly. I remove all excess paste and return to jar then remove tape carefully. I place the stencil in a container with water. (I will come back and clean the stencil in a little bit.) While the paste is still wet I applied Pink and Brown Glitter from Art Institute Glitter. I then set it aside to dry. Once dry I added the "My Valentine" and popped up images. I then used a decorative pin I colored with Color Solutions Darkest Brown and inserted through the pop dots used. I ran the pin all the way through the heart and the words. I added a dot of glue to the end of the pin and added glitter. This keeps you from injuring the one you love!

The next card is pretty simple.

I started by using paste on the Heart stencil just as I did the Flourish on the first card. This time it is done on Pink Card Stock from Worldwin. I also punched a border out of the same Pink and set it aside for later!

On the decorative paper I stenciled the "Happy Valentine's Day". Of course I added glitter again! Now that all my pieces are dry I cut out the heart, added a little Jumbo Java ink by Tsukineko, to the edges of the papers and to the border. I then started with the base card, added the dark pink, the dark brown edged with Krylon and then the decorative paper with the now dry Valentine sentiment. I placed the border down next the popped up the heart and added another accent heart from the paper stack. So you now have your finished card! The Robbin's Nest Accordion Fold Photo Book

Hello and welcome to my first post for Chattering Robins blog! I am Kristi Parker Van Doren and this is my first post for The Robin's Nest. I am very excited to be part of this team. So let's get started.

First, let me say I got a great big bag of goodies with which to design.

So I had a great batch of paper, Rub-ons, stickers, net, dew drops and tear drops. I decided I was going to do an accordion fold box/book.

Start by picking the papers to cover the accordion part of the project. The edges were covered with ink. The color does not matter too much at this point as a good part will be covered with paper and other ink. Cut the papers to fit on the tags. For interest various pieces of card stock were applied to the folds of each section.

At this point some texture was added in various areas using crackle paint. Two different colors were used to add some depth. At this point all the areas were sanded and distressed then ink applied.
Now the fun begins! I did a light wash of white on the entire box. It looks very antiqued just after the paint. Then various papers were applied to the box top. The paper is torn to give rough edges and then the metal corners were now added.
After this point I didn't take step by step photos. The lid was completed using The Flourish Stencil by Dreamweaver. Where all of the swirls of the stencil were a Dew Drop was added in various colors. Since the the flourish was done using embossing paste the Dew Drops were easy to apply. Some glitter was also used. The lid was finished by adding a piece of ribbon and 3 flowers.
Now let's look at the accordion fold mini album. We have it all covered in the papers. The cover was a great place to start. Using the rub-ons the clock face was added. Part of the clock was cut apart and then popped up. The clock hands were accented with the diamond shape Dew Drops. Double sided tape was applied to the top of the front tag and net added. Then glitter was applied to the still exposed tape. More rub-ons and stickers were applied and finally the flower added.
Then it was time to pick photos. Since the theme was "Time Flies" Photos of my boys at different stages were used. Ribbon from the box cover was used through out the album with rub-ons, stickers, flowers and Dew Drops being added as accents.

First Post for US Artquest!

Well first I want to say a huge thank you to US Artquest for choosing me to be part of this GREAT design team. I already owe Joe Rotella big time for pointing out that my post was due Saturday. Due to some illness in the last week, I had my company posts backwards!! UGH. So check back Monday for a post from The Robin's Nest!!! So this is what I did since figuring out my backwards day.

Step 1: Check your US Artquest Supplies on Hand

Step 2: Take a DEEP BREATH....You know you can do this
Step 3: DING DING DING...I need a notebook to take to CHA so why not make a cool one!

This is a piece of sticky back canvas and a regular composition book.

Step 4: Collage/Paint/Stamp Canvas. I used the Perfect Pigments Paint (PPP) and A Palette of Stargazers Paints. This is the first time using the PPP and I must say I LOVE the rich color and easy way they work. On the canvas I wanted the color less dense as I was going to use the stamped image over and then add other design elements.

Step 5: I used the PPP in burnt Umber to stamp the image. I then hit the highlights of the pears with the Stargazer Paint. The Startgazers have mica powder mixed into the pigment and get a nice shimmer to them. Cut the piece down to fit the composition book and attach.

Step 6: Add Sty'lines pears as accents. I had a pear stencil from Dreamweaver and embossed with 101 artist cement. After dry I added mica powder to the pear. I then added some Diamond Glaze to the side of the pear and applied cool Mica Flakes!!!
Step 7: I added word and outline accents using the Line Writer and Duo Adhesive. After the Duo was applied I let dry then added the silver leafing.

So the finished book looks like this!

I added extra Duo around the orange colored pear for more interest.
In this last photo you can see the shimmer of the Stargazer paint. See you in a couple of weeks on the correct day!

Welcome to the first posting of the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team 2012 ! We're changing things up a bit for this year, and YOU can help. The first Thursday of every month will feature our new challenge and will extend through the entire month. This means that YOU have ALL month to play along with the one challenge, as many times as you want. Sometimes it will be a color challenge, sometimes a theme, and sometimes a technique. We are hoping that an entire month will give you plenty of time to be inspired, create, and link to the Dream It Up! blog . Each month we are offering TWO prizes...one for the most creative version of the challenge (does not have to be Dreamweaver Stencils ' product, but we sure are happy when it is!), and the second for the best use of Dreamweaver Stencils ' product in the challenge. This could be stencils (of course), Embossing Pastes , Metallic F/X , the new Color Solutions , etc., anything you find on the Dreamweaver Stencils' web site , or in your local store. For the month of January, we challenge you to create something for Valentine's Day! You have until January 31st, 11:59 PM EST, to post and link your creation(s) to the Dream It Up! Blog Mr. Linky. I used the Damask Stencil for the background with embossing paste then covered in glitter. I also mixed some Metallic FX with Translucent paste to do the bird/heart stencil. I used Gold Krylon to color in the birds.

I added a punched border and used Niki Sivils Scrapbooker paper! Lots of layers and just a fun card. Happy Valentine's Day to each of you!

Celebrate With Dreamweaver Thursday!

Today we are sharing cards to celebrate/bring in the New Year. I was going to use a previous card and then got a burr in my britches to do a new card so I did more simple than usual but fun and with ....wait for it....GLITTER!!!! What better way to bring in the new year than with glitter?

I started with cool card stock from Worldwin. They have a line of Caribbean Colors and I used the Coconut (White) & Midnight Surf (Black). This is a texture paper and is just fun. The base card is 5 X 7 then the first layer is 4 1/4 X 6 1/4.

I used Glossy White Paste to emboss the Fireworks (LJ 886) on Coconut paper then used several different colors of glitter and let dry. I then used the same paste and embossed the word "Celebrate" (LS89) and covered with Hot Pink Glitter and let dry.

Of course I had to add the extra bling to the fireworks and the word just because I could and what good is starting a new year without a lot of glam and glitz??? So the final finished card...

Merry Christmas to you all on Dreamweaver Thursday!

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful holiday season. I am getting to spend a lot of time with family and friends and loving every moment. Today I am going to share a fun card that is a bit different. I am using the dove stencil and ....wait for it..... GLITTER!!! (I was supposed to use Burgunday and Gold today but missed the boat. Hoping the rest of the DT will forgive me!)

I started with a really cool pattern paper and traced the stencil on the paper with pencil. I then carefully applied Glossy Accents carefully around the entire image. As I got farther away from the image I pulled the Glossy Accents out so there is not a hard line. Sprinkle on glitter and shake of excess, set aside to dry. I then cut the layer and edges with in and embossed the small flourish with Pearlescent Paste and let dry. Now that the Dove is dry carefully tear paper and ink edges. Attach Dove to card front. Add charm.

We will be adding 3 new members to the design team. Welcome Jesse, Cherylynn and Cyndi! We will have a GREAT year!

I am so happy to announce that I have been chosen to be part of the US Artquest Design Team! I wll be doing posts the next six months, participating in blog hops and having a lot of fun! One of the most exciting things coming up for the company is they will be featured on HSN!! Look for them on January 17! Thank you Susan Pickering Rothamel and Terri Sproul for your kind words and support!

Look for my first US ArtQuest post in January!! I will post for my blog and for the US ArtQuest blog the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. Of course, I love the porducts so much I am sure I will want to just post every Saturday for fun!

Dreamweaver Thursday - Sketch Challenge with US Artquest

This week is a sketch challenge with Dreamweaver. I have also combined this with some great products from.......US Artquest

US ARTQUEST!!

Great products to fuel your creativity!

So here is are a few of the steps in this project!!! READY?

This is the base card that is 5 X 7 out of Petallics from WorldWin Papers. I am just adding a hint of color to the edges. I love to do this to add a bit of age to the project.

Next I peeled Mica Tiles apart. These are AWESOME for layers from US Artquest. You simply pick up a tile and then carefully pull them apart. I then added some Glossy Accents to one side.

Now I have sprinkled some mica powder and glitter...YES...GLITTER...on the adhesive. Dreamweaver has Metallic FX powder and US Artquest has Pearl EX. I used a mix on these to get the colors I wanted on the tiles.

The fun part is putting the top tile on the color and smearing it around. It gives the tiles a very vintage look.

Next I used a snowflake stencil and the Pearl Embossing Paste to add part of the snowflake on each tile. I set it all aside to dry. While it was drying I cut my paper layer and edged it with ink and attached my ribbon to the paper layer. I then attached that to the base card.

I then attached the tiles to the card front and added a rhinestone to the center of each snowflake.

Next I took my Merry Christmas stencil and used a blend of Copper Paste and Pearl Paste on the same card stock as the base card. I darkened then edges with the ink before adding the embossing. Once dry I attached this piece to the card front as well. So here again is the finished card!

And now a bonus card using the Mica Tile!

This time I used the Glossy Accents with Color Solutions artist grade alcohol ink and yes.....GLITTER!

I added some Pale Gold Krylon ink on a charm that was silver.

Hope you enjoyed my cards today. I had a blast making them! What fun it is to create using fun products and in a ocean front house! Yes, I did these on vacation!!! Just to make you jealous...here is the view I had while creating.

Dreamweaver Thursday - FREE WEEK

Usually for a FREE week in December I would do a Christmas Card but since my birthday is tomorrow, and my mom always made sure NO Christmas went up before my birthday I think I am just going to post for fun! We have so many fun things going on with Dreamweaver it is hard to choose, but I must say, I
am rather addicted to the Color Solutions, Artists Grade Alcohol Ink!!!

What makes these different from the others on the market is a longer workable time. The colors are super intense and just lovely. So I am going to share a couple of cards done with these fabulous inks!

I LOVE the newer GEARS STENCIL (LJ911) I started with DGWP Glossy White Embossing Paste on Black paper.
The paste needs to dry 100% before you do anything else to it.
Next I used a felt applicator and applied several colors of ink and gently dabbed it on the now dry paste.
Then I added the scrabble like letters and the clock embellishment.
I edged the black layer with Pale Gold Krylon pen.
It is layered on Groovy Grape DoubleMates from WorldWin.

Pretty quick and easy and fun.

This next card is also done on Black with White paste

Step 1: LJ910 Background Stencil has white paste applied over black paper and let dry.
Step 2: Using Aspen Leaf, Pumpkin and Paprika Red apply to felt applicator. Then apply thinning/cleaning solution over the colors. This softens the colors a bit.

Step 3: Adding Thistle and a little more Paprika Red to the applicator and more extending solution go over the next portion of background.
Step 4: Replace the felt and apply Citron and Pine Bough to the felt and a small amount of the extender and apply to the rest of the image. Let it all dry well, which does not take very long.
Step 5: LG711 Tree was then placed over the background and embossed with DMBP Matte Black Embossing Paste. Let dry
Step 6: Edge the now colorful piece with Krylon and adhere to Black Base card!

Today I am posting another frame and hoping the folks at The Robin's Nest like my style so I can use their cool papers and embellishments in some upcoming designs! You need to follow the link to check out their cool products for yourself!

So as promised yesterday, I am sharing another frame I made using paper, stencils, glitter and MMA (Mixed Media Adhesive)! I like the frame from yesterday for our color way challenge but these are MY colors so join me as we create a fun autmnal frame!

1. Take your wooden from your local craft store and sand it smooth.
2. Using metallic acrylic pants paint the frame.
3. Pick your paper source and choose several coordinating papers. This is made with papers from the Autumn Paper pack by K & CO.
4. Using MMA attach papers to frame. I traced the outline of the frame on the back of the large piece I was going to cover the bulk of the frame with, then tore other pieces to attach to the frame. I love the layered look. Do the same on the back of the frame.

5. After all areas are dry and secure pick your stencils. Since this was more an autumn theme I chose LJ849 Bare Trees & LJ900 Berry Branch along with DGWP Glossy White Embossing Paste. I pasted the trees in the lower left corner and the branch in the upper right corner. While the paste was still wet I covered the trees with Ash glitter and the branch with Crystal/Monarch glitter from Art Institute Glitter. Let Dry.

6. After everything is dry tie a ribbon around the frame where the tree line stops.

Now you have a lovely frame for keeping or giving as a gift! If you like this frame you can purchase it at my Etsy store!

Dreamweaver Color Way Challenge! Teal & Silver

I am pretty excited for this weeks color way challenge. We were to use Teal and Silver! I decided to add some "sparkle" to a frame I had been working on.

I started with a frame from a hobby store and this is how it turned out!

This frame is available for purchase at my Etsy Shop!

So now for the step by step!
1. I sanded the frame to get the rough areas smooth and more uniform then I painted the frame with metallic acrylic paints and let dry.
2. While the paint was drying I started looking through my paper collection to see what struck my fancy. I found the paper I wanted to use, and I am sorry, I believe this paper is either DCWV or K & Co. I have slept since I made the base for this frame.
3. I used the wonderful NEW Mixed Media Adhesive by my friend and creative genius Pam Carriker. This is the best adhesive I have found to work in mixed media. I started piecing the paper to the frame making sure to cover the areas with the adhesive in between layers. I LOVE the layered look it created! Let Dry.
4. Do the same for the back of the frame. As you can see I do a lot of tearing. Once the piece is completely dry trim the edges.

5. I decided with the bird in the corner on the front that I needed flowing stencils for the design so I chose LJ896 - Flourish & LG713 Small Flourish from Dreamweaver Stencils! I did the large flourish first in DGWP Glossy White Embossing Paste then used glitter from Art Institute sprinkled over the image while the paste was still wet.

6. I SHOULD have waited until the corner was dry before attempting to apply paste to the smaller flourish, but I am instant gratification so applied the same paste to the stencil in two areas VERY carefully and sprinkled with two colors of glitter!

7. I did wipe off the excess paste that sneaked through the stencil on to the frame and set it aside to dry.
8. Once completely dry I sprayed with a coat of clear Krylon paint.

PS. Tim Holtz has posted his First of 12 Tags of Christmas..without knowing he did our Colorway Challenge! You could easily use the snowflake stencil featured in Laura's blog to do the same background! So cool! BTW...Tim says it is GREAT to share the photo of the finished but click on his name above for the link to his blog and the FAB instructions.

Happy Thanksgiving From Dreamweaver Stencils

Happy Thanksgiving and hoping you would all remember to be thankful for all you have. This has been a very hard year for many. The last almost 4 months have been hard losing 5 friends, teachers, mentors. I am thankful for my family and my friends and all I do have. I am thankful for Dreamweaver Stencils, as even on days when I did not feel too creative, because of my dedication to this wonderful company, i.e., Lynell Harlow, I still create any way! Today some of us are doing a sketch challenge, others of us that missed the sketch are still posting Thanksgiving Cards! Since I missed the sketch I am posting 3 different cards using the same stencil. All have different techniques so here we go with card #1.

This card was so fun. I like a larger card so all my cards today are 5" X 7". So here is my step out process along with supplies used.

1. On suede paper (sorry folks, this is a scrap I had left from K & Co) I used DEPT Translucent Embossing Paste on the Give Thanks (LJ832). Set aside and let dry. (5 1/4 X 4 )

2. Cut Petallics Paper 1/4" larger than the suede paper and edge with Pale Gold Krylon Pen. (5 1/2 X 4 1/4)

3. Cut DoubleMates in Creamy Cocoa 1/2" larger than Petallic Layer. (6 X 4 3/4)

4. Edge base card (5 X 7) with Pale Gold Krylon Pen.

5. Lay your CLEAN & DRY stencil back over the embossed image and stencil on Shiva Oil Paints.

6. Let dry and assemble.

Card # 2

1. Cut base card out of DoubleMates Desert Dune to 5 X 7.

2. Cut next layer 4 1/2 X 6 1/2 using the same paper. Punch corners with just a slit punch. (EK Success)

3. Cut the card the image will be on out of Treasures Oatmeal 4 X 6.

4. Using my PanPastels I and stencil brush apply color to Give Thanks (LJ832).

5. Leave the stencil in place and apply Translucent Embossing Paste DEPT and let dry.http://www.panpastel.com/

6. Assemble Card and go around the edge of the top layer with Dries Clear Glue and Elements by Art Institute. Let Dry!

1. Cut base card to 5 X 7 from Light Brown Card Stock. (Sorry, not sure of the source)

2. Cut Desert Dune DoubleMate to 6 X 4 3/4 and edge with Pale Gold Krylon.

3. Cut Petallics in Bear Grass to 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.

4. For this card I once again used Stencil LJ832 Give Thanks and I used the sludge technique from Dreamweaver. This is where you blend several colors together to create cool blended effect. I used mostly DGP Gold Embossing Paste with some DCP Copper Embossing Paste and some DGKP Glossy Black Embossing for this GREAT look.

5. While the paste is still wet carefully apply Crystal Glitter to the words and Ash Glitter to the Cornucopia.

6. Let everything dry and attach to base card set to the left. Add ribbon of your choice to the right side of the card.

Well, this is our sketch challenge for this week with Dreamweaver Stencils. I have to admit, I really don't like sketch challenges but I know they are a great tool. So I am trying to be more positive. I actually rather like this design, so thank you Wendy Jordan for a cool design with which to work! Leave me some love, check out the other blogs from the Dream Team listed to the left!

Supply List:

Dreamweaver Stencils - Winter (LM296) & Snowflake Background (LJ819)/ Embossing Paste (DEP) & Pearlescent Embossing Paste (DPP),/Color Solutions CS104 Thistle, CS206 Iceberg & CS207 Blue Velvet /Metallic F/X 14 Purple Satin

Worldwin Doublemates in Groovy Grape

Offray Ribbon

Misc Snowflake brads in silver - Sorry, not in the package so do not have a source.

Step 1: I colored the eyelets with the Color Solutions. I then set them to the side to dry.

Step 2: I sprinkled a little on the Metallix FX on the Pearlescent paste and blended with my palette knife then spread the paste over the snowflake stencil on off white card stock. Let Dry

Step 3: With regular embossing paste on blue grunge paper and let dry.

Step 4: Cut base card and next layer.

Step 5: Attach the snowflake layer to the lighter side of the groovy grape card stock.

Step 6: Attach ribbon at an angle over both layers, wrap around and attach.

Step 7: Attach eyelets

Step 8: Place the stencil back over the "winter" and color with PanPastels.

Step 9: Attach winter to layers and use pop dots to attach to the card front.

So this is what you get if you follow the instructions...

Do you dream in color? Do you dream in texture? Do you dream in fun? Then the Dreamweaver Stencils’ Dream Team wants YOU! We are looking for someone with an organized mind but still able to think outside the box…or in this case…the stencil.

Here is what we would require from you:

1) You must have a blog and be willing to post for Dreamweaver Stencils at least
once per week…on Thursdays usually. These posts must be live on time. We
understand that emergencies happen. Please let Pam know if you will not be
able to post that week. An inconvenience is not an emergency. If you know in
advance that you will be away, pre‐schedule your blog. If you need advice
regarding this, no problem.
2) You must be able to link your blog to a social network site such as FaceBook,
Twitter, etc.
3) You must be willing to link your posts to at least one online site each week,
such as Split Coast Stampers, Two Peas in a Bucket, Paper Craft Planet, etc.
4) You must be willing to play with the once a month challenges (the first
Thursday of each month), which will include sketches, colorways,
inspirations, and dimensional items (boxes, frames, quilts, wall hangings,
furniture…anything other than a card). This challenge week will fulfill your
obligations for that week’s post.
5) You must be willing to submit your creations to online magazines, and paper
magazines in the industry at least two times per year. We understand that
whether you are published is at the whims of the editors, but we would like
some effort put forth in this, including emailing a copy of your submitted
design to Lynell and Pam.
6) You will be required to create samples for new release product, and
physically send them to Dreamweaver Stencils for use on sample boards,
industry and retail shows, sales reps, etc. Occasionally your samples can be
photographed and emailed. Many times you will receive your samples back
after they have been photographed for use.
7) Occasionally, you may receive new product for you to test and provide your
opinion.
8) Your samples will be cards, scrap pages, and dimensional items. We want
crafters to see all the multiple ways stencils can be incorporated into their
projects. Your samples will need to demonstrate a variety of techniques and
products as well. Patterned papers, stamps, and embellishments from other
companies can be added, but the stencil designs MUST be the focus.
9) You must provide supply lists and instructions with each sample.
10) You will be expected to sign a form promising not to share any trade secrets
or new designs before release.
11) You are free to belong to other design teams as long as they are not direct
competitors of Dreamweaver Stencils.

Here is what you can expect from us:

1) We will provide you with a beginning “kit” including several stencil designs,
paste, Metallic F/X, Memories Mists, aluminum, tools, etc. Some of these
items you will be allowed to select your own designs, colors, etc.
2) With each new release, we will send you one each of the stencils designs, and
extras that we receive from various companies in the industry for you to play
with and incorporate into your samples. We will request that you give these
companies credit on your blogs, etc. for these items.
3) We will provide you with Lynell’s Tips and Techniques video as well as a
complete assortment of Technique Sheets. We do not expect you to know
these techniques from the start, but be willing to learn and expand your
creativity.
4) Occasionally one of your creations may be used for a display board in stores.

Sketch Challenge for Thursday!

As you know Thursday is DReamweaver Thursday. This Thursday is a Sketch Challenge by Wendy Jordan! Hope some of you will play along and vist all the "Dreamy" blogs.

Also...Don't forget that Dreamweaver has a call out for some new deisgners.

Dreamweaver Stencils’ Design Team Call out:

Beginning: November 1st, 2011

Ending: November 30th, 2011

New team members will be announced: December 8th, 2011

Term from January 1st, 2012 through December 31st, 2012

(first posting will be January 5th, 2012)

Do you dream in color? Do you dream in texture? Do you dream in fun? Then the Dreamweaver Stencils’ Dream Team wants YOU! We are looking for someone with an organized mind but still able to think outside the box…or in this case…the stencil.

Here is what we would require from you:

1) You must have a blog and be willing to post for Dreamweaver Stencils at least

once per week…on Thursdays usually. These posts must be live on time. We

understand that emergencies happen. Please let Pam know if you will not be

able to post that week. An inconvenience is not an emergency. If you know in

advance that you will be away, pre‐schedule your blog. If you need advice

regarding this, no problem.

2) You must be able to link your blog to a social network site such as FaceBook,

Twitter, etc.

3) You must be willing to link your posts to at least one online site each week,

such as Split Coast Stampers, Two Peas in a Bucket, Paper Craft Planet, etc.

4) You must be willing to play with the once a month challenges (the first

Thursday of each month), which will include sketches, colorways,

inspirations, and dimensional items (boxes, frames, quilts, wall hangings,

furniture…anything other than a card). This challenge week will fulfill your

obligations for that week’s post.

5) You must be willing to submit your creations to online magazines, and paper

magazines in the industry at least two times per year. We understand that

whether you are published is at the whims of the editors, but we would like

some effort put forth in this, including emailing a copy of your submitted

design to Lynell and Pam.

6) You will be required to create samples for new release product, and

physically send them to Dreamweaver Stencils for use on sample boards,

industry and retail shows, sales reps, etc. Occasionally your samples can be

photographed and emailed. Many times you will receive your samples back

after they have been photographed for use.

7) Occasionally, you may receive new product for you to test and provide your

opinion.

8) Your samples will be cards, scrap pages, and dimensional items. We want

crafters to see all the multiple ways stencils can be incorporated into their

projects. Your samples will need to demonstrate a variety of techniques and

products as well. Patterned papers, stamps, and embellishments from other

companies can be added, but the stencil designs MUST be the focus.

9) You must provide supply lists and instructions with each sample.

10) You will be expected to sign a form promising not to share any trade secrets

or new designs before release.

11) You are free to belong to other design teams as long as they are not direct

competitors of Dreamweaver Stencils.

Here is what you can expect from us:

1) We will provide you with a beginning “kit” including several stencil designs,

paste, Metallic F/X, Memories Mists, aluminum, tools, etc. Some of these

items you will be allowed to select your own designs, colors, etc.

2) With each new release, we will send you one each of the stencils designs, and

extras that we receive from various companies in the industry for you to play

with and incorporate into your samples. We will request that you give these

companies credit on your blogs, etc. for these items.

3) We will provide you with Lynell’s Tips and Techniques video as well as a

complete assortment of Technique Sheets. We do not expect you to know

these techniques from the start, but be willing to learn and expand your

creativity.

4) Occasionally one of your creations may be used for a display board in stores.

Dreamweaver Thursday FREE WEEK!

Well, I am in full fall swing! I must say, I love the colors of fall the best but I do enjoy my summer days! But on to the fun fall colors!!! Also, don't forget that Dreamweaver has a call out for New Design Team Member! So my post this week is...Fall Leaves!

So I am going to start with my supply list!
Glossy Card Stock
Color Solutions Ink From Dreamweaver in Aspen Leaf, Paprika Red and Pumpkin
Color Solutions Thinner/Cleaner
Application Tool
Krylon Gold Pen
Gold Embossing Paste
White Glossy Embossing Paste
Mirror Card Stock
Decorative Scissors
Exacto Knife
Pop Dots
Black Matte Card Stock

The first step is to use white glossy paste to emboss the leaf image on black matte paper.

Repeat the process with gold paste and let them dry.

While you are waiting for the paste to dry get out your glossy card stock and your Color Solutions. On the applicator put a few drops of each color. I wanted the orange/red to show more so put less of the aspen color. I placed a few drops of the thinning solution on the applicator as well. Then, right before applying the ink to the paper I pressed the gold pen on the applicator too. I rubbed the applicator all over the glossy paper. I used more of an up and down motion on this card. You can twist it or do streaks,whatever you can dream up.

Once the paste is dry do the same process over the now dry paste. I love the way the same ink looks different on the two colors of paste. I also carefully colored over the white paste on the limb with gold.

Next, I cut best as I could around the delicate image with scissors. Once I had trimmed all I could easily with the scissors I used my Exacto to get all the details.

So now I start to build my card! first with the base card, then a slightly smaller white layer that I used postage stamp scissors on and trimmed with gold. On top of that I put my alcohol ink colored glossy paper. Nest is a small strip of mirror paper. I then carefully started to layer the leaves on the card front. The lower branch I kept closer to the card and then as the branches go higher I popped the leaves up at different heights from 1 pop dot to as many as three!

Here is my finished card!

Dreamweaver Thrusday...Dreaming in Blackand White

This weeks challenge is a color way challenge. All black and white. I decided to do a little black and white on the background and then make the Dogwood POP with soft color. I used PanPastels for the color and just love it. After I got all the color done and went over the entire image with translucent embossing paste! This is a fun and easy way to color to your projects!

Happy Halloween!

I don't usually do the Halloween thing but this year with the cool printers trays from McGuffey Woodworking, I just had to participate! I have had fun using Dreamweaver stencils and various items from the Scrapbook Generation, my local store and some fun things from 7 gypsies and more! I even used some of the new line of Authentique papers. So I will show you each component then the finished piece!

I used the cool paper for the background. And with the trays from McGuffey Woodworking, the backs come off so you can get your designs right up to the edge. I then stencil with orange matte paste the pumpkins. After dry I stenciled again with crackle paste. Love that stuff. I added just a hit of brown in over the top of the crackle. I stenciled the spider first in gold, the black and finally in red. I added my fun little bottle in the corner.

Sorry this photo is not clearer. I used some fun papers for the strip across the top of the rectangle then used my faux scrabble tiles for the BOO! Using matte paste I stenciled the jack-o-laterns. Once dry I added a little nose on one and hung a fun "skeleton" key for fun.

What is Halloween with out a witching hour? I first put the bare trees stencil down and sprayed with Fireworks from Tsukineko. I then just started adding layers of elements. More words, another fun bottle, a clock face for the effect and a moon! Had to think the whole thing was a bit spooky with a fun sticker!

Again, I added the paper and the letters to the box. Then I added some 3D embellishments and a fun key hole to go with the key from box 2!

As much as I HATE spiders...this is a fun box. I used the spider web stencil in black glossy paste and tossed some glitter here and there. I then added 3 spiders. Each spider is a different paste, one crawling into the box is crackle, the the pearl paste and finally the black glossy. Again, adding the fun bottle is a great touch.

Again fun paper with edging in brown ink. I used a partial stencil to get the raven. I just LOVE the scrable type letters and the fun embellishment. So here is the finished product!

These boxes are so much fun to make and just in time for a haunted Halloween! I added little stickers and the ruler from 7 Gypsies and a couple of black mosaics just for fun! Hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween. BOO!!!

Dreamweaver Thursday

Well it is Dream Scheme with Dreamweaver again. Today is a sketch by team member Kim.

so today is a sketch challenge and I decided to turn the sketch on its side.

I love the layers! I used the double glitter technique on the dogwood stencil. This is one of my all time favorites. I used three shades of pink on the petal and green on the leaves. There is a hint of yellow on the flower centers!. I used the waterfall method with the different colors. Once I removed the stencil from the paper (remember to always lay the stencil face down and pull the paper off the stencil to avoid bending your stencil) I covered the design in crystal glitter. I then just layered my papers and ribbons to do the sketch...or my interpretation of the sketch! Thanks Kim for the fun challenge!

Dreamweaver Thursday! FREE WEEK

I am so excited. The auction on EBAY is going well for Joplin. You can still get in on some auction items including a package of Dreamweaver goodies! So, I messed up last week and posted a free theme so this week really is a free theme. I am sharing an altered printers tray using the NEW ARTIST GRADE ALCOHOL INKS, Paste, paint, hoo has and doo dads! The alcohol inks are highly pigmented and stay wet a bit longer so you have more time to work! So this is my fun post today! I have lots of photos as this is an in depth project! Check the end of the blog for full list of supplies or as much as I remember! Enjoy

I started with a blank printers tray from McGuffey Woodworking/BK Design Studio. These are crafted in the mid-west. See the next photo!

What makes this tray different is the back panel comes off so you can draw your grid lines, paint, paper and all else and not fight with paper curling, hitting the sides of the compartments etc.

This is the gird that will be painted and re-attached to the back board.

Next I painted the areas I wanted with a base coat. I also found papers I wanted to use. These happen to be papers by
7 Gypsies and attached with a wonderful new Pam Carriker Mixed Media Adhesive by Matisse.

I added some crackle paint over some area. I used the Ranger brand.

You can see how the crackle is happening.

This is where the really cool stuff comes in! Because the back of the box pops off you can stencil using paste. I attached the LJ825 stencil to the box and used gold embossing paste!

Next I did the small flourish stencil in crackle paste.

Then the leopard print was added with black glossy paste.

I added the mosaic background last with pearl paste!

I put the now painted grid over the background. I did do a little touch up here and there along with stamping some images!

Now the real fun began. I added a bottle from some beads I purchased, added the scrabble style letters and the best thing is the cool transparent pear! This is where I used the ALCOHOL INKS on acetate then traced and cut out the PEAR STENCIL! I know, you are all shocked I used the pear!

More objects added.

The domino was colored with ALCOHOL INKS then stamped with one of my all time favorite stamps...a peacock from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. I glued it in but did remove the excess glue.

I stamped the Travel with Staz-on and added the dominoes. I did more ALCOHOL INK on the domino with the cat eyes...also by Prickley Pear.

I stamped this image on acetate and then used rubons by 7 Gypsies.

Love how the pear looks with the color yet transparent!

I also matched the paper on the dominoes in the little boxes above the pear.

Added some flowers and wings on the word stamp, also by Prickley Pear.

This is the finished box. I call it "MY FAVORITE THINGS" as in includes, pears, travel, art, flowers, animals and above all a very subtle amount of GLITTER!

Sorry for the late post today. In Arkansas on a new adventure. So I guess I am going to make this one short and sweet today. In the new additions to the catalog there are some GREAT quilt designs. They make a 6 X 6 pattern. This is a project I did for one of the shows!

All the color on the blocks were done with Shiva Oil Paint sticks also available at Dreamweaver! The top and bottom designs were then gone over in translucent paste!

Hope all of you have a very creative day! Now off to shop the craft festivals!

So sorry for my absence last week. Was in a minor car wreck and was out of town...so any way, I am back and ready to post! And it is going up a bit early this week to boot! (I am fine, the car is fine just a little stiff and sore! I created today on Hydrocodone so hope it all makes sense! LOL)

I want to use my post this week to wish all of our friends in Canada a Happy Thanksgiving. I made this card today using Alcohol Ink, Glitter, Paste and faux Scrabble tiles.

I started by using glossy paper and alcohol ink in shades of orange, red and yellow. I also added some gold leafing pen for the polished stone look!

Next I used glossy white paste on black paper and let it dry. I love the Japanese Maple Leaf Stencil! Once the paste was dry I applied alcohol ink to it as well.

I made sure my ink had dried well and used black glossy paste to emboss the one corner of the fall stencil. I then used the waterfall technique with glitter on the embossed image.

I attached the all the layers after the paste was dry then attached the letters. I also cut out the parts of the leaf image I wanted to use for the corner and attached them to the card front!

So that is my card for this week! Hope you enjoy! And all of you in Canada..Happy Thanksgiving On the 10 and celebrate a bit early!

Free Week with Dreamweaver!

Since I have been out of town since Sunday I am so glad we have a FREE week for the challenge with Dreamweaver Stencils! So I am going to join a lot of my design team friends that love the GEARS stencil and post a card using this great NEW stencil!

I love using copper with stencils. This is a very thin copper that my father-in-law shared with me! Thanks Tom Van Doren for the cool copper! I of course had to heat it to make the colors change but it is so fun. Then I used a mirror card stock for the sentiment!

This is the gears used on acetate by 7 Gypsies! Then Advantus Corp embellishments.

I know this is short and sweet but hope you enjoy these two cards! Happy Creating!

Color Way Challenge For Dreamweaver Thursday

Well, I am excited this week for the challenge is lime and gray! Now, I could have done a card but that would be super easy! So, I started with a mini stencil by Dreamweaver. I also mixed my glossy green embossing paste with a little yellow paste to make my lime color!

So I put the stencil on my grayish geode stone and used my lime paste to emboss the apple. (My kids are back in school and I can't help but think of an apple for the teacher!) I set the stone aside to dry.

After the paste was 100% dry and set I wire wrapped the pendant. When I finished the actually wrapping I used the loose ends to add beads as an accent. So this is the final product!

Thrusday - Free Theme Dreamweaver!

Thank you again one and all who played a long with us on the Wood Ware/Dreamweaver Blog hop! What fun we had. I had a different post ready for today but don't know if it is legal so changed my post! So, this is a frame that I have done this past week for my Art Fire Store! I used a frame from Michael's and then used paper from Graphic 45, and the yellow brick road is, of course, by Dreamweaver. I have layer upon layer in this cool frame. I used UTEE for the texture and color over the paper to seal it all! I also used some great "emerald" city gems by Connie Crystals! Gives a great feeling of OZ! Of course I had to make the ruby slippers glitter! It was a lot of fun to create this project. Hope you visit my store to see what else I have been up to!

The Dreamweaver design team is partying with the UK Woodware design team to bring you innovative ways to use our wonderful Dreamweaver stencils and supplies all week long! By the end of the week, you'll have seen stencils used in inspirational ways you just couldn't have imagined, and you'll see that, although our stencils are wonderful for paper crafting, they have SO MANY other uses too! We'll have several posts a day for you, from Monday August 29th to Saturday September 3rd. At the end of our celebration, each designer will randomly select a winner from all blog comments to receive a free Dreamweaver stencil. We look forward to you partying along with us!

Here's my entry for today:

I am a super blessed woman. I have great products to design with and a Fab Friend to make high quality wooden boxes of all sorts to design on. So lets get started!

I am ready for fall, well, sort of! I must say, I do enjoy the warm but LOVE the colors of fall! So I had a removable panel for the top of the box and started with the original Embossing Paste.

The next part of the process was to color in the background colors. I used Shiva Paint Sticks to add a rich, yet shimmer of color. Then I pasted black paste with a different leaf stencil.

I then decided it needed more! Of course! So I added stenciling all around the box. This got a little tricky on the corners but after the front dried 100% I just wrapped the design around the box!

I love the drama of the black paste on the white oak! After I got most of the design done this is what I had.

I was pretty happy with this but then decided to add in some Metalic FX to accent the leaves on top!

Hope you enjoyed the creation of the art part of the box! Thanks to Brad McGuffey, owner of McGuffey Woodworking for giving me the awesome box!

By the end of the week, you'll have seen stencils used in inspirational ways you just couldn't have imagined, and you'll see that, although our stencils are wonderful for paper crafting, they have SO MANY other uses too! I am sharing some projects using Dreamweaver Stencils! I have been doing some work on jewelry boxes. This first box I am showing you is one that I picked up at a craft store. I have stained it and then added the designs. I used alcohol ink on glossy paper to create the lined paper on both sides of the image I embossed on copper.

I used the LX Damask Stencil. It is so lovely and is great when the copper is gone over in a light coat of various alcohol inks and the buffed out again!

Love how the ink just makes the design pop!

This second piece is the top panel to another box that is a work in progress..front and back! Thanks to Brad McGuffey, owner of McGuffey Woodworking for giving me the awesome materials to design on! Check back Thursday for one of the completed boxes!!!

Dreamweaver Thursday - FREE WEEK!!!

So this week I finally decided to do something with the pears I had made a collage with while in Chicago hanging with my buddy Laura! So, I started with the one stencil and layered it. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with them so today I decided to water color. I used my water color crayons and just started painting. I did the background with acrylic. I also used some wonderful papers by Worldwin for the layering. I love their Caribbean Colors! Nice and has fun texture!

Sorry to all who have hit the blogs. So sorry to Lynell as the owner of Dreamweaver. I was not able to post from the computer I was on so posting now. This is a think of Christmas card! I used red glossy paste and layered on Kraft and other colored papers. I needed to think cool!!!! I love the sleigh stencil!!! Sorry again for late post...YIKES!

Theme Free Thursday

Happy Thursday! This week is FREEEEEEEEEEEE. I am glad this week is a free theme as I have been out of town for a couple of days and was making cards for a project so I will reach in and pull out one of my cards designed for CHA this past month. We are using more and more metal from MercArt! I used the metal tools, sanding and brads to give it the distressed look!

Thursday Dream Scheme/Urgent Prayer Request

First...this is a sketch week. I have failed. I have not done the sketch but do have a card to share. For those that do want to play along this is the sketch challenge.

This has been a difficult week for me. I have been doing lots of praying! A friend of mine from high school went missing on Monday while doing his job with the water division of the hwy patrol. His K9 partner was recovered on Tuesday night about 7pm. Fred is still missing. We are not giving up hope. We are praying for the family and for Fred. If he is still alive, he needs to be found soon as it is very hot in Missouri and it has been over 48 hours. If he has gone to meet Jesus, the prayer is to find him so he can be put to rest. I usually do not put a lot of personal stuff like this on my blog, but this is very close to my heart.

As for my card this week. I am using many elements. Time can do many things! Praying time is on Fred's side!

I guess if you turn the sketch on it's side and do layers rather than panels and keys and things this could be a sketch! I used the Gears stencil on the back of acetate with copper paste.

Thursday with Dreamweaver - FREE WEEK

I love having a free week. It allows for posting different items. This week I am posting a canvas piece I completed at CHA last Monday. I had the Gears all embossed on the wonder pewter from MercArt. I did the patina and polish and was just waiting for the right project.

At CHA I attended the Canadian Designer Showcase! It was amazing to see what all of the artists did with the same materials. As a bonus, each person got the same materials to with which to design. That night I was creating away with Canvas Corp, Tsukineko and DREAMWEAVER!!! (Dreamweaver was not part of the workshop!)

So I started with the blank canvas and added color with Tsukineko Fireworks! Then the fun really began! I added my wonderful metal piece!

I added more layers of things and used a piece of denim and altered some tags. Used some stamps and things!

The texture added is with a white paint pen, some enamel, twine and gears from Advantus. Love the stamped images semi covered with the white. The next step was the mini canvas in the center. I was creating with a group of talented designers and one of them wrapped the blue twine. I added all the bling after it was all assembled.

The final touches were the rope edges. Between Sarah Hodsdon and Joe Rotella I had GREAT adhesive to attach it as I wanted. I then added various flowers and hardware. Connie of Connie Crystal had the very pretty bling hanging from the center! The words were the last thing added. What a WONDERFUL time of creating with other artists and just chatting! This is the completed piece. Lynell was kind and displayed it in the Dreamweaver booth for all of CHA! I love using stencils in different ways...not just for cards my friends!

CHA was a Great Event. It was smaller but made it easier for me to make the rounds! I was very fortunate to make some new friends and more to have many more donate or promise to donate items for the auction to raise money for Joplin, MO. I was very pleased by the over all response to this cause!

Dreamweaver Thursday

The challenge this week is monochromatic. I am going off topic...Several of the design time worked on different quilt blocks to create a wall hanging to surprise Miss Lynell at CHA. Not all members were able to participate for one reason or the other but wanted to share finished piece. I am so pleased with the way this turned out.

I have a huge shout out to Casey July! She totally de-stressed me by piecing the wall hanging and adding a fun detail to the edging. Casey is an excellent seamstress/costume designer and a GREAT friend. If you get the opportunity you can check out her etsy store!

I just am so proud of the first ever design team for the this fabulous Company. Be on the look out for a new call! But for now, enjoy the current teams efforts!

Dreamweaver Sketch Challenge!

This week we have a Sketch for you all to play along with us. I am hoping some of you have seen the sketch and had time to make something to show off your mad skills! Here is the sketch again:

This week a chose a Scrapbook Page to show off the sketch. I did a large background of glitter lace for a fun base. I used the stencil as the accent on the top left. Love the larger cathedral window design! I taped off and only used part of the stencil. (LJ 808) I also used the blue glossy paste and loved the look on the lace background. Of course added bling!

I have used a photo this week of two very dear friends. It has been a rough year due to lack of time and money. I just got to celebrate one birthday with Mary Anne Goth (seated next to me) and will be celebrating with my friend Linda Gilliam around the 26th for her special day! Love you guys!

The rest is a photo of me with two of my best gal pals. You know you are good friends when you just know people are there for you even if they are not physically present!
