Cardabilities and Dream Scheme Thursday...a day early!

I am posting a day early as I am headed to LA for CHA!  I will be working with my Dreamweaver buddies and our fearless leader Lynell Harlow and I am sure having more fun than ought to be legal!!  So the Dreamweaver challenge this week was teal/brown/kraft in color and cardabilities had a sketch.  This is what I came up with...I went horizontal rather than vertical and my teal is on the green side, but that is how it goes.  I am sharing the sketch first!

This is also another sneak peak of one of the stencils we are revealing at CHA!  I love the owls and I wish to goodness I could remember the paper company for the owls and the pattern paper.  I will have to check it out and try to share that with you next week.
On this card I used my PanPastels to color the owls then used Dreamweaver Transparent paste.   I just love the the look.  I also like adding the edging of Gold Krylon Pen.  I also tend to distress the edges with my trusty chalk cat eye in dark brown!

I look forward to sharing more after CHA and lots of photos!!!

I Heart You! Love is in the air

Well, I decided to post something different!  I have been having my friends wondering if I would ever stamp again so here ya go.  I used a simple Love Definition in the background.  I then stamped the swirls on card stock and cut the hearts out with my Cricut.  I edged the hearts with Krylon gold pen and attached them to the card front.  Finishing touch, a cool Prima flower that I misted with Glimmer Mist!  Of course I had to do the matching envelope.

This is a card still floating around in USPS as it was a submission for a publication and never arrived!  Oh well, at least I have the photo!

I am really excited to see some new and exciting products  to use on new samples at the Craft & Hobby Trade show.  I am also excited to see some old friends and meet my new friends!  I know...that sounds weird, but are there really strangers in our creative world?  I hope not...Art brings people together!!

Another Sneak Peak At Dreamweaver CHA releases!

I am sooo in love with these new stencils.  I created this card using black matte paste on acetate for the cage and white paste on the owl.  I admit...I created this just after seeing Harry Potter so that is kinda the theme but not really.  Just inspired by the pretty owl.  Hope you enjoy!

Next post will be on Wednesday.  I will be traveling so that will be my post for Dream scheme Thursday!

Dream Scheme Thursday! Dreamweaver Day

Well I gave you the teaser yesterday and now for the full card....

I used the NEW stripe stencil being unveiled at CHA!  I again made it into a plaid.  I used the wonderful Pears embossing paste and let it dry the turned the stencil to the side and used Glossy Blue embossing paste.  I also used DoubleMates card stock from Worldwin.  On the lighter side I pearl embossed the the pitcher of flowers.  Add a ribbon and and there ya go!

Can't wait to share more of the new designs in the upcoming days!

Dreamweaver sneak peek! CHA Here we come!

Since some of my fellow design team member posted a little sample of some of the new designs I thought I would show you what I did with one of them as well.  The Dream It Up blog and my friend I have not met, Laura, both used the new larger stencil that is a stripe pattern.  I am going to show you my take with the same stencil.  I am a lover of plaid so that is what I went for.   And you all know how I love the pear so here goes!
It is difficult to see the green hue behind the yellow and orange.  One of my favorite color palettes.  And this little background piece turned into this....
The Diamond glaze was not completely dry when the photo was taken you can get the gist.  I layered more with a couple of my favorite stamps and some flower accents.  I am so Excited to meet my new friends from the Dreamweaver DT!  If you are going to CHA make sure and stop by the Dreamweaver booth!  we will be "working" (yeah, we get to play and show others!) hard!!!

Dreamweaver, Thrusday Dream Scheme...Sketch Challenge!

Start at the Dreamweaver Blog and see how you can participate in the sketch challenge this week! Just click the Dreamweaver link to the left!

I have a hard time following a sketch challenge as I get all carried away.  So this is my variation on this challenge.  I used the Oval Doily stencil with the double glitter technique.  I added a cool ribbon more at an angle than straight across.  A little chipboard accent and some finishing touches and there ya go!

The Glitter technique is one of my favs and I encourage everyone to find their inner GLITTER GODDESS!

Scrapbook Generation and Nikki Sivils!

A great time was had by one and all as Nikki shared with the lucky ones at SG two of her awesome brand new paper lines.  We got to make 4 cute projects along with the lucky ones that got in on the super saver scrapping!  Nikki had three of her awesome design team teaching including my dear Friend Karen! We also made 3 two page layouts for only $9!  Scrapbook Generation does this monthly so just because you missed one does not mean you can't get in on the next on.

Had a beautiful sunset to end the very fun and exciting day.  Thanks to Nikki and SG for all the hard work!

I am also Happy to announce that I will be teaching classes at Scrapbook Generations!  Debbie has decided to fill part of this really roomy space with Dreamweaver Stencils.  Stay tuned for the date for the first class.  These are the 3 cards we will make!

Dreamweaver Spring Thoughts! Love the Glitter!

  1. Place double stick tape to paper.  I use the 4" La Dore Tape.
  2. Soap the back of Dreamweaver stencil LJ 836 (oval doily) with Coconut soap. (also by Dreamweaver)
  3. Peel other side of tape up and place stencil on exposed tape.  Press firmly but not super hard so the stencil will release easily.
  4. Cover stencil and other exposed sticky area with Teal Glitter (Art Institute) and shake off excess.
  5. Remove stencil carefully and then cover the now exposed area with Yellow Glitter.  Shake off excess. and set this piece to the side.
  6. On base card apply ink direct to paper.  I used and olive green ink.  I think it was Colorbox.
  7. Attach glitter piece on now distressed base card.
  8. Cut out and emboss the label of your choice from Spellbinders.
  9. Tape Spring Stencil LM 228 on all sides with low tack tape on all sides to label.
  10. Mix a small amount of Kiwi Green Metalic FX with Translucent Paste then spread over the stencil.
  11. Remove stencil and clean up knife and stencil with water. (keep stencil flat) Let image dry.
  12. After "Spring" is dry distress the edges a little with the same ink used on the base card and put little brads through the ends. (this is more for show than holding the project together)
  13. Attach to card front with Weldbond. (tape does not work super great on glitter surfaces)
  14. Add Prima Flower.
I am thinking spring as I have decided that winter is my least favorite season.  I am ready for the warmth to come over the land.  I need my sunshine and warmth!

I hope you all like this weeks Dreamweaver Dream Scheme free week!  We could do whatever theme we wanted!  If you do not have the Oval Doily....you need to get it.  Wonderful and very versatile!

If you go to the previous post you can see what the entire image looks like!
